Understanding the Companies Act 2006

Implementation of the Companies Act 2006 was completed on 1 October 2009. The Act simplifies the processes involved in setting up and running a company, and helps increase shareholder involvement. It also allows for future flexibility.

Amendments to the previous legislation - the Companies Act 1985 - include changes to the regulations on directors, secretaries, meetings and accounts reporting. There are also updated rules on company names, business disclosures, articles of association and share capital.

This guide explains how the Companies Act 2006 impacts on your clients' businesses and offers advice on how to comply.
