Funding to help solve UK screen sector challenges

The British Film Institute (BFI) National Lottery Innovation Challenge Fund is seeking fresh ideas to tackle pressing issues in the UK screen sector.

Between 2024 and 2026, up to six challenges will be issued to spur innovation and boost the industry while generating valuable insights for everyone involved.

First challenge - Video games

The inaugural challenge focuses on innovation within the UK video games sector. BFI aims to tackle two key issues faced by the industry:

Challenge A: Improving industry data

Proposals are invited to develop, test, and launch a user-friendly platform that provides valuable insights and data to the video games sector. This platform should particularly benefit smaller-scale and independent developers. Funding of up to £250,000 is available for successful proposals.

Challenge B: Supporting emerging developers

A fund of up to £100,000 is allocated to support innovative ways to address the barriers facing emerging and under-represented developers. The aim is to help them bring their promising ideas to market.
