New Apprenticeship Incentive Scheme | NI only
Financial incentive available to all employers to support the recruitment of new apprentices
This scheme is open to employers who take on an apprentice participating in the Department for the Economy funded ApprenticeshipsNI or Higher Level Apprenticeship programmes.
As part of the application process, checks will be made to ensure that apprentices on similar pathways have not been displaced to support recruitment if this is found to be the case eligibility may be impacted.
To note – programme eligibility excludes public sector employees.
There is currently no deadline for applications relating to new apprenticeships which started in the period 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. To be eligible both the employment and the ApprenticeshipsNI (AppsNI) or Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) programme must have started by 31 March 2022.
If you employ an existing apprentice after 31 March 2022 you are not eligible to apply. If your employee starts their ApprenticeshipsNI (AppsNI) or Higher Level Apprenticeship (HLA) programme after 31 March 2022, you are not eligible to apply, even if the employee had enrolled before 31 March 2022.
Applications for the 90-day element of this scheme relating to new apprenticeships which started in the period 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021 closed on 30 September 2021. Employers who have successfully claimed a 90 day payment in respect of an apprenticeship which started in the period 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021 may still apply for the 200 day element if eligible.
The New Recruitment Incentive Scheme is now open for applications. Download the applicant claim form for the Apprenticeship Recruitment Incentive Scheme (PDF, 459K).
