Access and facilities for disabled people

Introduction

There are around 360,000 people in Northern Ireland with a disability. Businesses must not discriminate against disabled people who use their goods or services. Businesses are also required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

Businesses that provide a service to the public are legally required to make reasonable adjustments to their premises where they put disabled people at a disadvantage. This is in addition to other duties not to discriminate and to make reasonable adjustments.

It also makes good business sense to ensure all your customers and potential customers are able to easily access your goods and services. Why access means business (PDF, 301K).

This guide covers ways of making your premises and services accessible to disabled people.
