Antrim and Newtownabbey Social enterprise programme

26 October 2018

Information sessions to highlight the benefits of the programme

If you are considering starting up a social Enterprise business or are already trading and want some assistance then the Social Enterprise Programme, funded and supported by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, can support you.

What is a social enterprise?

A social enterprise is a business whose primary purpose is based on social objectives. Any surpluses generated are principally reinvested in the business to further advance that purpose, or in the wider community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. A social enterprise does however have a business focus and operates as a commercial enterprise.

The social enterprise programme

The programme offers:

  • one to one mentoring from a specialist
  • access to group workshops
  • networking opportunities with other social enterprise businesses
  • access to a bursary to progress your idea
