Belfast invites new businesses to get super connected

Call for transferring businesses to avail of £3,000 high-speed broadband grant

Businesses moving to Belfast from parts of Lisburn and Castlereagh are being encouraged to take advantage of the Belfast City Council's Super Connected programme.

Through its Connection Vouchers Scheme, the programme offers grants of up to £3,000 towards the costs of upgrading their business broadband speed.

Over £1.5 million has already been provided to almost 800 firms, including many in the transferring areas, to create faster and more reliable Internet connections, and help them deal with the demands of the digital age.

Businesses can apply as individual enterprises or as a group to connect bigger or more complicated premises. Before you apply, you should read through the scheme's eligibility and guidance notes.

The Super Connected programme and the city's digital transformation will continue under the new council with the development of free wireless access in outdoor areas across the city centre.

The latest proposals will see the installation of additional data cells at key locations in order to meet growing demand for faster connection speeds as usage and data volumes grow. This work is expected to begin later in 2015.
