The Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) has launched a call for evidence on Digital Product Records (DPRs) from interested stakeholders across Northern Ireland.

The call for evidence aims to gather views on digital product records to inform future policy development and understand the potential impacts for businesses, consumers and supply chains.

The call for evidence seeks views on:

• Digital product records and their potential benefits and impacts
• the interaction between future UK policy and existing EU Digital Product Passport requirements
• impacts on businesses operating across Great Britain, Northern Ireland, and EU markets; and 
• consideration of any future UK policy development in this area

What are digital product record systems?

Digital product record systems, such as the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP), are intended to store product information in a way that is easily accessible to those who need it.

DPRs look set to form an increasingly significant component of the regulatory landscape for goods across the globe. They have the potential to streamline administrative processes for businesses, and facilitate improved transparency for consumers, with respect to product information and sustainability.
