Consultation on potential trade tariffs on US goods

20 May 2019

European Commission seeks industry views on potential increased custom duties on US products

A trade dispute between the US and the EU over aircraft subsidies may result in trade tariffs rising on both sides of the Atlantic.

The US has proposed imposing additional tariffs on goods from the EU. The European Commission has similarly identified products originating in the United States that could be subject to increased customs duties.

To assess the scale and impact of any measures, the Commission is seeking input from stakeholders who may be affected. The list of product areas include:

  • food and drink
  • medical supplies
  • bags
  • agricultural machinery
  • bicycles and motorcycles
  • aircraft
  • fitness and leisure equipment

You can download the full list of products being considered for additional import duties if they originate in the US (PDF, 56K).

How to respond
You can respond to the consultation using forms provided on the European Commission website.

The deadline for responses is 11am on Friday 31 May 2019.
