The Childcare Sustainability Fund closed to applications on Friday 5 February.

£8.5 million funding package for the childcare sector

The Childcare Sustainability Fund (Phase 2 - Sep-Dec 2020) is now open for applications. The fund will provide a financial contribution to eligible registered childcare providers who are open and providing childcare to:

  • assist with the continued additional costs of operating within the Department of Health COVID-19 guidance; and
  • support their financial viability whilst operating with reduced demand for services

Eligibility criteria

Childcare providers eligible to apply include:

  • childminders
  • daycare settings
  • school-age childcare settings
  • community and voluntary crèches (specific conditions apply)
  • playgroups (with additional provision other than Pre-School Education Programme (PSEP) places).

Only those providers who have been reactivated by their Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust, have been operational during the period 1 September 2020 to 31 December 2020 and are still currently operational are eligible for this funding support.

How much funding could I receive?

The amount of funding available will depend upon the type of childcare provision offered and the opening/operational date following endorsement from the HSC Trust. See full details for each funding stream for the Childcare Sustainability Fund.

This funding scheme will be administered by Early Years - the organisation for young children - on behalf of the Department of Education.

All eligible beneficiaries will receive an email from Family Support NI inviting them to apply.
