Coronavirus: Extra funding approved for individual artists

News article

Individual artists will be the first recipients to benefit from the £29 million funding approved by the Northern Ireland Executive to support the arts, heritage, culture and language sectors impacted by COVID-19

£3 million of this funding will be distributed to individual artists through an existing Individuals Emergency Resilience Programme (IERP) administered by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

The Arts Council NI will be issuing letters of offer this week to eligible individuals who had applied to the IERP in August, which was heavily oversubscribed. The extra funding will allow more than 1,000 individual artists to be supported through grant funding of up to £5,000.

In addition to the support for individual artists, the Department for Communities (DfC) announced that a number of new funding streams for other creative sectors also struggling as a result of the impact of COVID-19, will be launched before the end of the month.
