Farming community urged to exercise extreme care and attention during the current pandemic
The Farm Safety Partnership (FSP) has urged the farming community to exercise extreme care and attention - COVID-19 has created an unprecedented situation for everyone in Northern Ireland with severe pressure being placed on health and emergency services.
FSP is asking all farmers and their families to stop and think SAFE (Slurry, Animals, Falls (from height) and Equipment) before doing any job. This is especially important considering that children are out and about on farms now more frequently, and with older family members potentially self-isolating, this can put additional strain on families.
Key information on health and safety issues surrounding SAFE:
- Stop and think SAFE
- Slurry - working safely with slurry
- Animals - working safely with livestock
- Falls - working safely at height on farms
- Equipment - working safely with farm equipment and vehicles
