Coronavirus: Support package for taxi, private bus and coach sectors

News article

Financial support for the taxi, private bus and coach sectors - whose trade has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic - has been announced by the Executive.

First Minister Arlene Foster and Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill have conferred the necessary powers on the Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon to administer the schemes, which will be developed urgently.

A bespoke funding package will provide financial assistance to the taxi, private bus and coach sectors which have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 crisis through loss of earnings. Many have also shouldered the cost of implementing safety measures to ensure the safety of their customers.

This support will be brought forward to alleviate the hardship being faced by workers in these sectors.

The funding package will complement the existing Executive schemes which are being progressed to provide support to other sectors impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
