Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment consultation

12 November 2018

Consultation on proposed amendments to regulations on the use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment

Defra wants to know what you think about their planned approach for transposing EU directive 2017/2012 into UK law. This will amend regulations on restricting the use of hazardous substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).

The change will correct some unintended consequences of previous widening of the definition of electrical and electronic equipment products. In particular, the change will stop the restriction on the resale and repair of old equipment and clarify issues concerning product scope.

Everyone is welcome to reply to this consultation including the retail industry, EEE manufacturers, trade representatives, wholesalers, environmental groups, electrical repair and re-use organisations, waste management organisations, and members of the public.

The consultation will close on 6 December 2018.
