There are various sources of help that can be found within the UK Trade Tariff and in other places.
Throughout the UK Trade Tariff journey you'll see the help icon to the right-hand side of most text. It is a button with a question mark inside it. Clicking this will provide instructions on how most parts of the UK Trade Tariff work.
Classifying some difficult goods
If you are having trouble classifying products, you may want to read the plain-English chapter notes for difficult-to-classify commodities. These can be accessed by clicking on the "also on this site" links on the right-hand side of the page.
Binding Tariff classification and other information
If you want an official ruling on the correct commodity code for your goods, you can apply to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for a certification of Binding Tariff Information (BTI). BTI is a written and legally binding decision on a classification code that applies for up to six years from the date of issue. It can help you with particular types of export and complying with rules of origin.
