Transit and other suspensive regimes

The New Computerised Transit System (NCTS)

The New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) processes trader's electronic customs transit declarations.

It is mandatory for traders using Community and Common Transit to make their declarations using the NCTS, which is used by all the member states of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries.

Paper declarations are only allowed during fallback when transit declarations cannot be made on the NCTS system and for private travellers with goods in excess of their duty free allowances.

To learn how to register for NCTS, access and use the system, comply with its processes and documentary requirements, and find out about simplified NCTS procedures, see our guide on using the New Computerised Transit System (NCTS) to move goods across the EU and EFTA countries.
