Funding programme to offer up to £8 million for new digital solutions to healthcare challenges

The Digital Health Technology Catalyst will provide funding of £35 million through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund over the next 4 years. The first round of funding offer £8 million for the development of new digital technology solutions to healthcare challenges.

Digital health technologies, which allow patients to manage their medical conditions from home, can greatly reduce reliance on GPs and hospitals whilst improving patient quality of life.

Feasibility projects must range in size from total project costs of £50,000 to £75,000 and projects must be completed within one year. Industrial research and experimental development projects must range in size from total project costs of £500,000 to £1 million and projects must be completed within 3 years.

Projects must focus on the development of digital health or digitally-enabled medical technologies. They must have the potential to achieve one or more of the following:

  • improve patient outcomes
  • transform healthcare delivery
  • enable more efficient delivery of healthcare

Innovate UK provide full details of the digital health technology catalyst 2017 round one. The deadline to apply is 11 October 2017.
