New ISO standard for climate change adaptation launched

1 October 2019

New standard can help businesses measure, report and assess strategies and plans to increase resilience against climate impacts

The British Standards Institute (BSI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have created the world’s first international standard on climate change adaptation.

BS EN ISO 14090 Adaptation to Climate Change – Principles, requirements and guidelines sets out how businesses can prioritise and develop effective, efficient, specific and deliverable adaptations which will increase resilience and demonstrate robust and credible risk management.

The standard helps businesses to identify and understand impacts and uncertainties and how these can be used to inform decisions. It also helps them to report on climate change adaptation actions.

Climate change adaptation is important if your business activities, products and services might be at risk from, or in some cases able to take advantage of, climate change.

You can find out more about BS EN ISO 14090 on the BSI website.
