Rural arts funding now open
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is offering grants of £500 to £10,000 for arts projects in rural communities.
The funding is available through the fifth round of the National Lottery Rural Engagement Arts Programme (REAP). It aims to help more people take part in the arts and reduce loneliness and isolation in rural areas.
Who can apply?
Artists, arts organisations and community groups can apply. Projects can be for people of any age and could include:
- workshops and classes
- performances and exhibitions
- outreach and community arts activities
- film and media projects
- other activities that help people take part in the arts
Since the programme began, REAP has supported activities involving 16,686 participants and 1,229 artists.
What funding is available?
You can apply for between £500 and £10,000 for a project lasting up to one year. Projects must take place between 1 December 2026 and 30 November 2027.
Funding can help pay for:
- artist and tutor fees, travel and accommodation
- transport and venue hire
- materials and equipment hire
- accessibility support
- volunteer expenses
- publicity, marketing and evaluation
- film and media education or outreach activities
- essential equipment, up to 50% of the total amount requested
Working with other organisations is encouraged. Applications involving partners, such as local authorities, rural development organisations, arts organisations or groups supporting older people, will be prioritised.

The deadline is midday on Thursday 24 September 2026.
