Public consultation launched on proposed restrictions for promotions of foods high in fat, sugar and salt.

The Food Standards Agency in Northern Ireland and the Department of Health have launched a public consultation on proposals to introduce restrictions on the promotion of products high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS).

The consultation seeks views on proposals to:

  • restrict volume price promotions, such as multibuy offers
  • restrict the placement of products in prominent locations in stores and online
  • support healthier shopping environments
  • encourage a greater balance of promotions that improve the affordability of healthier options

How to respond to the consultation

The consultation is open to anyone with an interest in:

  • public health
  • food retail
  • food manufacturing
  • enforcement
  • consumer issues
  • the wider food environment

Responses will help inform decisions on whether, and how, the proposals should be taken forward in Northern Ireland.
