MATRIX, the Northern Ireland Science Industry Panel, is looking for representatives from various business industries to become members
MATRIX, which was established in 2006, is an industry led group which advises government and informs academia and industry on the commercial exploitation of science, technology and research and development (R&D) in Northern Ireland. One of its primary aims is to champion the role of science and technology as one of the key drivers of economic growth in Northern Ireland. The MATRIX panel meets quarterly to review progress on research, hear from stakeholders and receive updates on their recommendations.
Seeking new panellists from various sectors
Panellists can come from any science and technology based sector, but applications are particularly welcomed from those working in:
- advanced manufacturing, materials & engineering
- life & health sciences
- renewable energy
- advanced construction
- digital ICT
Applications are also particularly welcomed from women, who are currently under-represented on the panel.
If you have at least a degree or equivalent qualification in a STEM subject and have a minimum of three years’ experience working at a senior level in the private sector in either science, R&D, engineering or technology, you are eligible to apply. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate good experience of working on the commercialisation of science, engineering, technology, R&D, and in the field of new innovations.
How to apply
The closing date for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 31 October 2018, with interviews being held in November and the new panellists’ terms beginning on 1 January 2019. Suitably qualified candidates may apply to be considered as a panellist and/or Chair.
