Coronavirus: Working safely in different business settings

10 July 2020

Guidance to help employers, employees and the self-employed understand how to work safely during the coronavirus pandemic

The government, in consultation with industry, has produced guidance on how to work safely in different types of workplace. It aims to provide a practical framework for businesses who need to think about continuing or restarting, operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some of the listed sector guidance has been produced for businesses in England but includes general best practice advice that will highlight practical actions relevant businesses can take. Where there are regulations, companies in Northern Ireland must always comply with the rules applicable to them.

In addition to these guides for practical advice, local businesses can also refer to the Guide to making workplaces safer and priority sector list and Workplace safety guidelines and social distancing.

Many businesses operate more than one type of workplace, such as an office, factory and fleet of vehicles. You may need to use more than one of these guides as you think through what you need to do to keep people safe.
