Innovate UK Smart Grants
R&D support for game-changing and commercially viable R&D innovations that can impact the UK economy.
Businesses of any size can apply for grants through the Innovate UK Smart programme.
They can work alone or with other businesses, the research base or the third sector, depending on the grant amount and the project duration. This will be outlined in the specific competition brief.
If leading a project, the business must be registered in the UK and conduct its project here. Research and technology organisations can also lead a project.
Innovate UK Smart grants are available for game-changing and disruptive ideas from businesses through a regular, competitive application process.
Grants are for projects that can provide evidence for considerable potential to gain market share and generate economic impact and exports.
To apply your business needs either:
- an idea for a completely new product, service or process
- a brand-new use or an unprecedented use for an existing product, service or process that takes it above and beyond what’s currently available
It is not limited to a particular industry or technology area.
The Innovate UK Smart grant has focused scope and eligibility criteria to support SMEs and their partners develop disruptive innovations with significant potential for rapid economic return to the UK.
The current competition closes at midday on 24 April 2024.
