DASA re-opens Security Rapid Impact Open Call

News article

Funding is available for ideas that focus on tackling security challenges in the UK

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) has reopened the Security Rapid Impact section of its Open Call for innovation and is looking for ideas that could enhance the UK security sector.

The call is open to projects that seek to:

  • enhance understanding of threats to UK security and safety
  • enable threat prevention
  • enhance the threat response

There is no funding limit for proposals submitted to the call, however, DASA expects to fund bids between £100,000 and £350,000.

It is expected that some proposals will be relevant to both defence and security, but all must have a realistic prospect of being completed by March 2025, and should be able to achieve an impact within three years of the completion of the project.

DASA will only fund proposals if there is a strong security user requirement and capability need for the idea. Proposals are contracted under the Innovation Standard Contract, and are expected to deliver a technology model or prototype demonstration at Technology Readiness Level 6 or 7 at the end of the contract.

How to apply

The Security Rapid Impact Open Call requires an innovation outline to be submitted prior to the full proposal submission. To do this, you must register or log in to DASA's submission service.

The call is open for proposals all year round with assessment dates scheduled across the year. The current cycle of the call closes for applications on 29 November 2023.

For more information on the application process, assessment and closing dates, read the competition document.
