Extension of the Groupage export facilitation scheme to 2025

News article

The Groupage export facilitation scheme (GEFS) has been extended to 31 December 2025 to continue exports to the EU and movements to Northern Ireland of low-risk products

GEFS facilitates exports from Food Business Operators with steady supply chains, by using 30-day Support Attestations to help in the certification process.

The scheme was previously set to end on 31 December 2023. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has now secured a two-year extension to the scheme to 31 December 2025.

During the two-year extension, the focus will be on improving the scheme, its guidelines, and associated guidance. DEFRA will be conducting wide-ranging consultations and will reach out to members and industry accordingly.

If you are currently a GEFS member or a supplier manufacturing products under GEFS, you can continue to follow the available guidance on product requirements, Support Attestations, and required documentation.

If you are not already using GEFS, you should check your eligibility and register at Groupage export facilitation scheme.
