Funding for textiles skills and innovation

Grant support for ideas that support waste prevention, reuse and repair models, and reimagining in the textiles industry

Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful has launched the Tackling Textiles - Skills and Innovation Fund pilot programme to explore ways to reduce the environmental impacts of textiles.

The production, consumption and disposal of clothing and textiles is a growing environment issue both locally and globally. Across the United Kingdom, we are throwing away over one million tonnes of textile waste, with up to 300,000 tonnes ending up in landfill or incinerated.

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has provided £10,000 for this pilot programme, which is seeking initiatives that help tackle this growing issue, across three themes:

  • waste prevention
  • reuse and repair models
  • reimagine

Grants of between £500 to £3,000 will be allocated to each successful project.

Find out more about the Tackling Textiles - Skills and Innovation Fund and how to apply.

The fund is open for applications until 5pm on Friday 14 October 2022.
