GBIP in the Netherlands: Quantum technology

News article

Innovate UK is inviting innovative UK businesses to apply to its latest Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) in the Netherlands

The programme is aimed at businesses delivering quantum technology solutions, including:

  • quantum networking and communication solutions
  • quantum computing
  • industrial process technologies for scaling, and commercialising quantum technology products - photonics, radio frequency, and semiconductors for quantum tech solutions
  • quantum sensing and timing solutions

Quantum technology is a new and ground-breaking technology that can offer disruptive solutions to a variety of unsolved problems.

Why the Netherlands?

The Netherlands has world-leading strengths and advanced facilities in quantum technologies, is third in the world for scientific citations in quantum research, and is second for investments in quantum technology per capita.

In 2023, the Netherlands and the UK signed a memorandum of understanding, pledging to further intensify cooperation in quantum technologies.

Through its flagship program, Quantum Delta, the Netherlands is investing over €615 million in the development of its quantum technologies ecosystem, ranging from strong research hubs to international active start and scale-ups.

Its complementary supply chain and research strengths in photonics, semiconductor and quantum tech are required for the growing quantum tech industry in the UK.

Why should you apply?

Participation will enable you to find potential innovation partners, improve your company value proposition, and explore opportunities for doing business in the Netherlands.

You will also get a chance to join:

  • a two-day preparatory workshop in the UK
  • a five-day tailored innovation visit to the Netherlands
  • follow-up workshop and support from an Innovate UK Innovation and Growth specialist

The programme will include a visit to the Quantum Meets 2024 conference in Amsterdam.

Applications close on Monday 22 April 2024.
