SBRI Rail Demonstrations: First of a Kind 2023

Can you deliver high maturity demonstrations of innovations to the UK railways?

Department for Transport (DfT) and High Speed Rail Partner are launching a new Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition to develop demonstrators that offer innovations in:

• customer experience
• reliable and easy to maintain assets
• optimised train operations
• high speed rail partner systems installation

There is a competition briefing event taking place on 14 June 2023 - you can join in London or online.

The briefing will give you an opportunity to hear from the UK Government's Rail Minister about the funding available and learn about the information you need to develop your project proposal. You will also have the chance to present a two-minute elevator pitch to potential project partners.

The competition will open for applications on 14 June 2023. The overarching principles for the competition are cost efficiency and increasing value for money.

The competition has two strands with separate closing dates:

• The DfT competition strand will close on Wednesday 26 July 2023 at 11am
• The High Speed Rail Partner strand will close on Wednesday 9 August 2023 at 11am
