MSI: SME resource and energy efficiency – feasibility studies
Funding of up to £15.5 million across two strands for UK-registered organisations to develop industrial digital technologies aimed at improving resource or energy efficiencies in SME manufacturers.
The competition opens on Wednesday 22 October 2025 and closes at 11am on Wednesday 10 December 2025.
Who it is for
This competition is open to single or collaborative applications based in the UK only.
To lead a single or collaborative project, your organisation must be a UK registered micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) operating as a technology developer.
Collaborations can include one or more of the following:
- UK SMEs
- academic institutions
- research and technology organisations
Your project must:
- have total costs between £25,000 and £150,000
- last between 3 and 6 months
- start on 1 April 2026
- end by 30 September 2026
Support you can get
This competition aims to explore new industrial digital technologies (IDTs) for manufacturers. The IDTs will improve the sustainability, resilience and productivity of UK micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) manufacturers by improving energy or resource efficiency.
This competition is split into two strands:
- MSI: SME resource and energy efficiency - Feasibility Studies (this strand)
- MSI: SME resource and energy efficiency - Industrial Research
For feasibility, eligible project costs can be funded as follows:
- up to 70% if you are a micro or small organisation
- up to 60% if you are a medium-sized organisation
