Comply with advertising standards

Complying with the advertising standards is usually very simple. As long as your advertisement is legal, decent, truthful and honest, you usually won't have to worry about it. Whichever media you choose, the claims you make for your product or service must comply with a number of regulations.

There are two committees that govern advertising practices in the UK, one for broadcast advertising, and the other for non-broadcast advertising. Both are responsible for creating, revising and enforcing the advertising codes of practice.

This guide outlines how advertising standards are regulated, the advertising complaints procedures and highlights four advertising pitfalls to avoid.
