Innovate UK is investing up to £5 million in innovation projects developing artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) driven solutions

The solutions must address a business challenge or opportunity in target industry sectors:

  • construction
  • transport, including logistics and warehousing
  • creative industries (excluding marketing and advertising)
  • agriculture and food processing

The aim of the competition is to fund projects that can demonstrate an increase in business productivity through the use of AI and ML solutions

Projects should have a grant funding request between £25,000 and £50,000. They must also last between four to six months and be carried out in the UK.

To lead a project, your organisation must be a UK registered micro, small, or medium-sized enterprise (SME) collaborating with another UK SME or academic institution. Each lead SME can only be involved in one application, but an SME can collaborate on up to two applications.

Projects can focus on themes like:

  • data driven decision making
  • automation of administrative tasks
  • project management optimisation
  • supply chain optimisation and forecast models
  • waste management
  • intellectual property management
  • design
