Free cyber security toolkit
New toolkit helps small businesses take practical steps to improve cyber safety
Launched by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Cyber Action Toolkit offers a simple way for sole traders, micro businesses, and small organisations to protect their staff, finances, and reputation from cyber threats.
Recent data shows 42% of small businesses experienced a cyber breach in 2024, with 32% affected by phishing attacks. The NCSC encourages organisations to act now and update their cyber security measures. The toolkit is designed as a first step to help businesses build resilience both internally and with their suppliers.
The toolkit offers personalised advice based on your business size and needs, focusing on actions that deliver the most impact with the least effort. It has three levels - Foundation, Improver, and Enhanced - so you can see your progress and celebrate your milestones.
Key features include:
- free, tailored cyber security guidance
- clear, step-by-step actions based on your business profile
- progress tracking that lets you move forward at your own pace
The Cyber Action Toolkit is ideal for those who are unsure where to start. It has been designed to build confidence and help progress businesses towards Cyber Essentials, a government-backed certification that sets a basic standard for cyber security across the UK.
