Funding to encourage employee ownership

Almost £100,000 of funding has been provided by the Department for the Economy to encourage greater uptake of employee ownership.

The Department for the Economy is providing almost £100,000 of funding to Employee Ownership Ireland to increase awareness of the employee ownership trust model across Northern Ireland.

What is employee ownership?

Employee ownership is a transformative approach to business where employees hold a substantial financial and decision-making stake in the organisation.

The shift to employee ownership often occurs when business owners seek a succession plan. Instead of selling to external buyers, they transfer ownership to their staff, upholding the company’s legacy and maintaining its ties to the local community.
