NATEP programme offers an opportunity for aerospace innovators to apply for R&D funding and mentoring in Autumn 2021 and Spring 2022

In 2019, NATEP has been allocated £10 million of funding by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) to help mature more than 60 research and development (R&D) projects over its four-year time frame.

Part of this funding has already been allocated through two calls; the remainder will be awarded under competitions taking place this Autumn 2021 and in Spring 2022.

Autumn 2021 call
The Autumn 2021 funding call is now open. Successful applicants will be offered grant funding, as well as technical and management mentoring to help companies accelerate the technology development towards market readiness.

Eligibility
To be eligible, projects must:

  • be collaborative
  • be industrial research
  • have application (or potential application) within civil aerospace
  • propose technologies in line with ATI's Technology Strategy (or explain why they don't)

To lead, you must be an SME. You can collaborate with academic organisation, charity, public sector organisation or research and technology organisation.

Any SME can lead on one application and collaborate in a further two applications. If a business is not leading an application, they can collaborate in up to three applications.

Full eligibility criteria and application terms and conditions are outlined on the NATEP website.

How to apply
Applications for funding follow a 2-stage process. The outline proposal stage requires provisional information about the proposed project to enable the selection of those projects which will be invited to make a full proposal.

The deadline for submitting outline proposals is 27 August 2021.

Before applying, you should first contact your local NATEP representative who can discuss your project and help with the application. Businesses in Northern Ireland should contact Laura Weir at Invest Northern Ireland via email laura.weir@investni.com or Tel 028 9069 8297.
