Explore critical minerals opportunities in Australia

Innovate UK is inviting applications for its new Global Business Innovation Programme focused on critical materials and midstream processing and recycling, based in Australia.

This programme offers:

  • a 'Get ready' preparation phase
  • an innovation visit to Perth, focusing on critical materials
  • an 'Exploit the opportunity' workshop
  • ongoing support from an Innovate UK innovation and growth specialist

The specialist will help your business maximise opportunities and develop innovation projects with Australian partners.

Applications are welcome from businesses involved in critical materials value chains, especially those listed in the 2024 Criticality Assessment by the UK Critical Minerals Intelligence Centre. This includes activities such as:

  • midstream processing and production of value-added materials supporting the net zero transition
  • recycling and re-use of materials
  • life cycle analysis and ESG (environmental, social, governance) considerations
  • recovery of critical minerals and feedstocks from mine waste like overburden and tailings

The programme builds on Innovate UK's partnership with Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation. It offers a unique chance for UK businesses to collaborate with Australian partners to create resilient, secure, and cleaner critical materials supply chains. This supports both countries' goals and global net zero targets.

The deadline for applications is 23 November 2025.
