Safe Shop launched to support Antrim and Newtownabbey businesses
The initiative aims to reassure shoppers and support local businesses during the busy festive season
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has launched Safe Shop as part of the ‘Embrace Your Town This Christmas’ campaign.
The initiative aims to reassure shoppers and support local businesses during the busy festive season, encouraging more people to shop local while helping to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in town centres.
As part of the programme, Police Officers will focus on shops experiencing higher levels of crime, while Community Safety Wardens and the Council’s Economic Development team will work across local towns to provide guidance, reassurance, and practical support to traders and visitors alike.
Business engagement visits
Community Safety Wardens will be carrying out additional patrols and business engagement visits, offering safety advice, and signposting support available to local retailers.
Shoppers can also expect to see an increased visible presence in town centres, creating a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.
If you are a local business based in Glengormley, Antrim, Randalstown, Crumlin, or Ballyclare, you can book a visit with the Community Safety Wardens until Monday 15 December 2025. Book your place now.
Safe Shop is managed in partnership with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP).
