Who it is for
Global Explorers is for ambitious, innovation-led small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the capacity to grow internationally. All applicants must already be working with an Innovate UK Business Growth innovation & growth specialist or Scaleup Director, and have an agreed action plan that includes exploring global opportunities.

Delivered through Innovate UK Business Growth, the programme provides funding, expert advice, and global connections to help SMEs reduce the risks of entering new markets.
It supports businesses to:
- build international R&D and innovation partnerships
- engage in cross-border collaboration
- validate and adapt innovative ideas for fast-growing markets
- gain market knowledge, sector expertise, and regulatory guidance
- access global incubators, accelerators, and networks
- strengthen business models and improve investment readiness
Participants receive grant funding of up to 70% of eligible costs (maximum £21,000) for a six-month project, with businesses contributing the remaining 30%. They also benefit from tailored one-to-one guidance on R&D collaboration, market access, IP, regulatory requirements, and scaling strategies.

Global Explorers is only open to Innovate UK Business Growth clients. Eligible SMEs should speak to their Innovation & Growth specialist or register interest through the Innovate UK Business Growth website.
