MI5's National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) and the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSC) are offering guidance to help UK tech startups secure their innovations.

The joint initiative features an updated Secure Innovation guide, including a Quick Start Guide for those without extensive security expertise.

The initiative focuses on three steps:

  • appointing a security lead
  • identifying key assets
  • assessing security risks

In addition to the Quick Start guide, the Secure Innovation website offers detailed advice for businesses of all sizes, emphasising the vulnerability of low-security companies. It highlights potential threats, including state actors, competitors, and criminals, and urges businesses to manage digital risks effectively.

Security advice featured on the portal will help you:

  • understand the threats
  • secure your environment
  • secure your products
  • secure your partnerships
  • expand safely into new markets
  • prepare for security incidents
  • protect your technology, reputation and future success
