Initiative to help employers recruit software apprentices

News article

The Software For All initiative is designed to simplify the process of finding and recruiting software apprentices.

A growing number of companies in Northern Ireland are turning to apprenticeships to build their software talent. Software apprenticeships combine hands-on experience with formal education. Typically, apprentices work four days a week and train one day a week, contributing to meaningful projects from the very start.

Funded by the Department for the Economy and led by Workplus in partnership with Software NI, the Software For All project is designed to simplify the process of finding and recruiting software apprentices.

Inclusive and accessible job roles

The Software For All project has a strong focus on inclusion, particularly supporting more women into software roles. By highlighting the stories of women who thrive in the sector, it aims to challenge perceptions and increase participation.

How to get involved with Software For All

There are two ways for employers to get involved:

Option 1 - Add your existing recruitment link for free

If you run your own recruitment process, you can add your existing portal link to the Software For All platform at no cost. This shows applicants that you are part of the campaign and increases your visibility across schools, communities, and career explorers.

Register to add your recruitment link to the Software For All website.

Option 2 - Join the free coordinated campaigns

You can also join one or both of the coordinated campaigns running from:

  • Monday 12 January to Friday 20 February 2026
  • Monday 1 June to Friday 12 June 2026

This gives you free access to the full Workplus support service, including coordinated promotional and shortlisting support.
