National Living Wage


The National Living Wage is for workers aged 23 years old and above. It is currently set at £8.91 per hour for 2021-22.

From 1 April 2021 the National Living Wage of £8.91 has been extended to include those aged 23 and above. Previously this only applied to those aged 25 and over.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) applies for workers aged below 23 years old and there are a number of different bands of rate:

  • NMW for 21-22 years old: £8.36
  • NMW for 18-20 years old: £6.56
  • NMW for 16-17 years old: £4.62
  • NMW for apprentices: £4.30
